Happy New Year… or almost New Year — or honestly, whatever time you’re reading this. As 2025 comes to an end, there’s no better moment to look ahead at what’s waiting for gamers in 2026. And trust me, the upcoming year is already shaping up to be a huge one for PC and console players alike. Before we dive in, a quick reminder: this isn’t a complete list of every game coming in 2026. Many titles haven’t even been announced yet, and release dates can always change. If the past year taught us anything, it’s that even the biggest games can slip. Still, based on what we know right now, here are some of the most exciting releases kicking off the year. 🎮 January 2026 Highlights January starts strong, especially for Nintendo and JRPG fans. On January 15, Animal Crossing: New Horizons gets a fresh start with its arrival on Switch 2. Along with improved performance, players can enjoy new content like hotel renovations, crossover items from other Nintendo franchises, and even LEGO-inspired Animal Crossing sets. Best of all, existing Switch owners can upgrade for just $5, while Switch 1 players still receive the massive 3.0 update. That same day also brings The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon. As the latest entry in the long-running Trails series, it continues the story from Trails Through Daybreak II and launches across Switch, PlayStation, and PC, making it a must-play for JRPG veterans. On January 22, one of the most beloved RPGs of all time expands its reach. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade arrives on Switch 2 and Xbox Series, complete with next-gen upgrades, the Yuffie side story, and a new fast-track mode that lets players breeze through the story with maxed-out stats. Action fans aren’t left out either. Dynasty Warriors: Origins launches on Switch 2 the same day, alongside the Visions of Four Heroes DLC, bringing classic hack-and-slash chaos with new content. Later in the month, on January 26, Highguard enters the scene. Developed by former Respawn Entertainment developers, this free-to-play PvP raid game mixes fantasy combat with large-scale battles. Yes — that includes riding bears into combat. It launches on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. JRPG momentum continues on January 28 with The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, an open-world RPG based on the popular anime series, coming to PS5, PC, and mobile. Finally, January closes out strong with Code Vein 2 on January 30. The sequel to the anime-styled soulslike brings back intense combat, dark storytelling, and vampiric flair for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Somewhere during the month, Riot Games’ highly anticipated fighting game 2XKO also launches on PS5 and Xbox Series, following its PC early access debut. Featuring League of Legends champions in a 2v2 format, it’s already gaining serious competitive hype.
